IIT Gandhinagar Summer Internship 2025
Summer research internship program
The flagship program strives to bring the motivated students from prominent institutions across the country right here on our campus. It will allow undergraduate and master students to participate in the cutting edge research projects; they undergo mentorship by IITGN faculty and get exposure to the state of the art laboratories and instrumentation facilities available on campus.

SRIP – STUDENTS
For whom (Eligibility): Students pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree at a prominent institution in India.
Duration: At least 8 weeks within summer break of IITGN. The last date for receiving applications is March 1, 2025.
Requirements:
- Applicants are required to work with an IITGN faculty. Applicants are advised to review the list of participating faculty along with the description of projects being offered.
- Applicants may apply for internship based on their interests and prior experience. They are free to apply for projects outside of their declared degree specializations.
- Applicants will be required to make a presentation to the institute and submit a report at the end of the tenure.
In the present scenario, SRIP 2025 will be conducted in the offline mode.
In-person/offline mode: In this mode, the students are expected to work on the project in-person and interact with the faculty mentor on a regular basis while staying on campus. This mode is open to all the students (Internal and External). The interns will be entitled to receive a stipend and a certificate on successful completion of the internship.
Provisions for student interns:
- Weekly stipend of Rs. 2000 will be paid after completion of the internship. The stipend for faculty funded projects, however, may vary.
- Hostel accommodation will be provided to the summer interns and students are required to pay the applicable hostel charges.

Bhalodia-Khetan Summer Research Excellence Award
The “Bhalodia-Khetan Summer Research Excellence Award” (SREA), set up through the generous support of New Jersey based well-wishers of IIT Gandhinagar, Ms Vidya Bhalodia and Dr Amit Khetan, will recognize excellence in research conducted during IIT Gandhinagar’s flagship Summer Research Internship Program. Annually, three awards of Rs. 50,000 each will be awarded in the fields of Engineering, Natural Science, and Humanities & Social Sciences, with one award given per category.
Dr Amit is Senior Vice President in Quantitative Analysis at D E Shaw & Co. He completed his BS and MS in Computer Science from MIT, and PhD in Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley. He has previously worked with Goldman Sachs, the Institute of Defense Analysis, and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Ms Vidya is a Data Scientist in the healthcare sector and works on analytics with clinical perspectives to make people’s lives better. She holds a BS and MA in Neuroscience from Caltech and Washington University, St Louis, respectively, and a Master’s in Software Engineering and a Certification in Data Sciences from Harvard University.
Vidya and Amit are strong believers in giving back to society, and have set up this award in honor of their parents. They also like volunteering for their local non-profit cultural organisation that brings together the Indian diaspora through various programs and activities. We are grateful for their support and look forward to recognizing the outstanding summer research being conducted at IIT Gandhinagar.
